深秋の普罗旺斯　之 康城 Cannes

关于康城影展。。。。。。 The Festival de Cannes (it has recently dropped film from its title, after all everyone knows it's a film festival) was conceived by the French government in the 1930s to provide an alternative to the Venice Film Festival, where only those films meeting the approval of Mussolini's censors were shown. Cannes was elected for its "sunny and enchanting location".

The first festival was scheduled for 1939, with film pioneer Louise Lumiere presiding over the jury. Plans were scuppered, however, by the onset of World War II, and it was not until 20 September 1946 that reels were rolled and glasses raised at the belated inaugural festival. The 10-day event, which since 1951 has occupied its current slot in the spring calendar, is held in the Palais des Festivals et des Congres, a massive architectural eyesore that dominates the seafront.

The judging ----------- Each year the festival's board of directors chooses a 10-member international jury:nine artists and a president, who is almost exclusively a leading figure in the film world. The jury's job is to award the prestigious "Palme d'Or" (golden palm) for Best Film, as well as prizes including Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director and Best Screenplay for feature films that have been made in the year leading up to the film festival.(To qualify, entries must not have been shown outside their country of origin nor entered for any other competition.)

Alongside the "Official Selection", which often includes some more block-buster-style. movies screened outside the competition(The Da Vinci Code was the 2006 opener) are a series of parallel selections and prizes seen as a springboard to later inclusion in the Official Selection, awards for short films and for the best films and for the best three films presented by the Cinefondation, Cannes' champion for productions from films schools.

这个海边的城市给我的印象是阳光明媚，很悠闲的一个城市；也难怪当年会被法国政府看中，举行一年一度的康城影展。来这里度假的人都是非富则贵，海边豪华的酒店多不胜数，所以这里也没有便宜的青年旅舍。像我们那样来看看的，就得从尼斯搭火车来到康城。TGV约20分钟，一般的火车则40分钟左右。
